Severe Weather Arrangements

We would like to remind parents of the arrangements that apply if school has to be closed because of severe weather conditions. As in previous years, a central decision will be made whether or not to close all schools in the event of heavy snowfall across the whole of the city.

Any decision affecting all schools to close or stay open will be made by 6.45am at the latest, and such blanket decisions will be announced through Radio WM, Heart FM and Free Radio. We will also post an announcement on the school website.

In the event that Cherry Orchard is not able to comply with a central decision to remain open because of factors unique to the school (eg, burst pipes, heating failure, poor access), we will communicate this to parents as early as possible through the school website and the local radio stations. By doing this, we intend to pass on information to you as effectively as possible and keep the school line open for urgent calls.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND UNACCOMPANIED CHILDREN TO SCHOOL WITHOUT CHECKING THE SITUATIONS FIRST.
