Choosing a Secondary School

The children who leave Cherry Orchard each year attend over 15 different schools in the area.  It is important that you make the right choice of secondary school for your child.  You can do this by attending open evenings when your child is in year 5 and at the start of year 6.  This will give you an invaluable insight into the school and see if it suits your child's particular needs.

Birmingham offers a "co-ordinated admissions scheme" with neighbouring areas.  This means that if you live in Birmingham (you pay your council tax to Birmingham), you can use the Birmingham application system to apply for secondary schools and academies both inside and outside the Birmingham area.  If you don't live in Birmingham but want to apply for a Birmingham secondary school, you should do this via the application process of your own local authority.

For entry to secondary schools for 2018/19 the closing date for applications to be submitted online is 31st October 2018.
